The Golden Arrow of Achievement

The Government of Guyana May 2015

 

For her extensive and exceptional contributions in education and culture at the national and international levels. The Golden Arrow of Achievement (A.A.) is the fourth highest award in the Order of Service of Guyana. It may be awarded also to "any citizen of Guyana who has performed an outstanding and specific act of service or achievement of an exceptional nature, or is given for long and dedicated service of a consistently high standard in responsible offices, local government services, social and voluntary services, industry or trade unions, or in any other area of public service." It may also be awarded to institutions, organisations, corporations or a group of people under similar conditions to the Cacique's Crown of Honour.

Anthony N Sabga Caribbean Awards for Excellence (Arts & Letters)

In recognition of and commendment for her achievements in arts & culture and academia. The Anthony N Sabga Caribbean Awards is the only programme in the Caribbean which seeks out and rewards outstanding nominees in Arts & Letters, Public & Civic Contributions, and Science & Technology, and as of 2015 Entrepreneurship. It has been in existence since 2005, and was, till 2010 a biennial award, at which time it became an annual award. Each laureate receives a medal and citation at a ceremony in April

The New York Tristate Alliance Award 

for Outstanding work in the Field of Education and Culture June 8, 2012, in New York. 

Presidential Medal of Service Award,

for contribution to Arts and Education in Guyana, a National Award from the Government of Guyana, May 2011.

The Cacique Lifetime Award

from NDATT Trinidad and Tobago, for Contribution to Arts in the Caribbean 2005. 

Guyana Prize for Literature 2004

for “Anansi’s Way”.

 

The Caribbean Schools Drama Association Award for Best New Play in 2000,

for the play,

“The Massacura Man”.

(Awarded in Kingston, Jamaica, November, 2000). 

The National Cultural Center, Guyana, Annual National Theatre Arts Awards (TAA)

for Best New Guyanese Play in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and

1999.

for Best Director in 1996, 1997 and 1999. 

The Guyana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), National Song Festival Winner, 1988. 

Guyana Cultural Foundation Award (New York)

for Contribution to Culture in Guyana , September 2007.

for the play,

Father of the Man”. 

 

Guyana Prize for Literature 1998,

for the play, “Duenne”. 

 

The National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), Annual Theatre Arts Award in 1989

for Best Supporting Actress, in " Agnes of God."
